Azerbaijani volleyball club "Ordu" is in third place after six rounds of the championship. After two defeats at the beginning of the season, the team has won four consecutive victories. The "Military" significantly strengthened the squad at the beginning of the season, and one of the new transfers was Brazilian Mateus Arauxо. He answered the questions of Idman.Biz.
- How satisfied are you with the club's performance at the beginning of the season?
- I rate the start of the championship very positively. The team prepared well, quickly adapted on the field, and showed character from the first games. Of course, there are things we need to work on, but overall, Ordu's performance in the league is pleasing.
- Considering the four-game winning streak, is Ordu aiming to join the fight for awards?
- Undoubtedly. We do not hide our ambitions. Victories give us extra confidence, and now the main thing is to maintain concentration. There is a long season ahead, but we want to fight for the highest places and prove it in every game.
- You have been playing in Azerbaijan for the second year now, previously wearing the Neftchi uniform. How do you assess the level of the championship?
- The league is developing very quickly. There are quite strong legionnaires, talented local players, and a high organizational level here. Progress is clearly visible compared to the first season, and this makes the championship more competitive and interesting.
- Are there any favorite places in Baku?
- Yes, I love the city of Baku very much. I enjoy walking along the boulevard and visiting Icherisheher. There is a special atmosphere, history, and architecture there. I also like the local cuisine very much - it is both rich and very tasty.
- In addition to you, two more Brazilians play in the team. Does this factor make adaptation easier?
- Of course. Speaking the same language helps us understand each other better both on the field and in everyday life. It is possible to make decisions faster in difficult moments. But I would also like to emphasize that there is a very good mutual understanding in the team as a whole.
- You have played in the leagues of Brazil, Qatar, Lebanon, Greece, Portugal, and in Lithuania you were selected as the best diagonal attacker of the championship. Are you planning to continue your scoring success in Ordu?
- Individual awards are nice, but for me, the main thing is always the team's result. If the points I score and my game contribute to Ordu's victories and fight for titles, then everything is going well. I try to give my best and I hope that this season will be successful for both me and the club.
