"I have always worked with women volleyball players and I have never regretted it."
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Faig Garayev, the head coach of the national team consisting of women volleyball players, at the first panel session of the Coaches Forum "The role of the head coach: leader, pedagogue, or manager", which was organized for the first time in Azerbaijan.
F. Garayev, recalling the successes he achieved with women volleyball players, said: "We achieved these achievements together. We have participated in world and European level tournaments. I have had the opportunity to work with both local and foreign athletes. I can say to my young colleagues participating in the forum that coaches should only deal with the athlete's training and not interfere in their personal lives. No matter how much experience we have, we continue to participate in foreign trainings and learn new things."
The head coach also emphasized the nuances that coaches working with women should pay attention to: "We have raised star volleyball players. But at the same time, we have lost 20-30 potential athletes. They chose to leave sports due to family or other reasons."
F. Garayev added that coaches should also be physically fit: "Otherwise, it is difficult to achieve high results. Another important point is that the training process should be interesting. Both the coach and the athlete should enjoy the training. Otherwise, the athlete will not want to come to training and will try to avoid it. All of this applies not only to volleyball, but to all sports."
