Faiq Garayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national women's volleyball team, assessed the team's unsuccessful performance in the Golden European League.
Idman.biz reports that the specialist made a statement to "Report" about this.
He said that some leading players could not participate in the matches due to injuries: "The Golden European League was unsuccessful for us. Some of our leading players could not participate in the games due to injuries. This created serious difficulties for us. Ayshan Abdulazimova and Margarita Stepanenko could not help the national team due to injuries. They were with the team in Baku, but due to their health, they did not participate in training because there was no doctor's permission. Anastasiya Bayduk and Anastasiya Mertsalova were injured in the first game. Currently, the treatment of our injured players continues under the supervision of a doctor. Of course, this competition was important in terms of rating, and we wanted to achieve better results. But for certain reasons, we could not do it."
Garayev said that they will seriously prepare for the European Championship, which will be held in Baku next year: "We are looking forward to EURO-2026. Our main goal is for the team to perform with all its leading players in the continental championship and achieve a successful result. We believe that we will perform successfully in this magnificent competition to be held in our country."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team lost to Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia and Romania with a score of 0:3 in the Golden European League, and to Montenegro and Croatia with a score of 1:3.
