"It is a great achievement that 15-20 percent of the 50-60 referees trained in Azerbaijani volleyball come to the fore."
This was stated by Eldar Zulfugarov, chairman of the Referees Committee of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation.
The expert said that talented referees participated in the seminars organized for young referees.
"We have talented referees. But now it is difficult to train both athletes and referees in all sports. If 15-20 percent of every 50-60 people come to the fore, it is considered a great achievement. It is easy for many to work in volleyball. But refereeing is really serious and difficult. You must always be on the side of justice. Whoever has chosen this path will continue," he said in a statement to Report.
The expert shared his thoughts on the results of the seminars:
"The seminar consists of three stages. After the first stage, young referees voluntarily work in children's leagues. Refereeing is such that there must be love. There are many who are interested. A large number of referees participated in the seminar. 23 of them were able to pass to the second stage. Referees who complete the second stage will also continue their activities in children's leagues. After the third stage, there will be selections. It will be determined which referees will work in the High League and which in the children's leagues."
He spoke about the upcoming goals and plans:
"The third stage of the seminar will end in March. If there are any innovations related to the rules, we will also convey them. In May-June, there are Euroleague games between national teams consisting of both male and female volleyball players. Then comes the European Championship, which will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena. After the seminars, we will prepare for these competitions."
