Russian climber Natalia Nagovitsina, who was stranded at an altitude of 7,000 meters on Pobeda Peak in Kyrgyzstan after breaking her leg, has died.
Lent.az reports with reference to Russian media that her body can only be recovered after the weather conditions normalize and a helicopter is sent to the peak. Also, the rescue team that was sent to retrieve the body of the climber who tried to save Nagovitsina has been recalled.
Nagovitsina was injured on August 12 during the descent, her partner provided her with first aid and went to the camp for support. The next day, two foreigners tried to help her, but fatigue and bad weather prevented them from doing so. As a result, they had to wrap the female climber in a tent intended for sleeping at night and leave her on the mountain.
Later, rescuers flew by helicopter to Nagovitsina, but the helicopter crashed due to turbulent airflow.
