The Finnish national ice hockey team has won the 2026 World Championship.
Idman.Biz reports that in the final held at the "Swiss Life Arena" in Zurich, Switzerland, Finland defeated the host Switzerland with a score of 1:0.
The only goal of the final was scored by Finnish national team forward Konsta Helenius. This goal gave Finland their fifth world championship title in history.
Finland had previously won gold medals at the World Championships four times - in 1995, 2011, 2019 and 2022.
Switzerland, however, was once again unable to end its longing for a gold medal. The team finished the World Championship in second place for the sixth time in its history. Switzerland had previously lost in the final in 2013, 2018, 2024 and 2025 as well.
