President of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation (ASF) Zaur Aliyev and Secretary General Ogtay Atayev participated in the congress of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) in Singapore.
According to Idman.biz, the event included various speeches, discussions, meetings and elections to the WA bureau.
For the ASF leadership, the congress is also important in terms of expanding international relations, building partnerships, exchanging experiences and future cooperation.
Zaur Aliyev held meetings with WA President Hussein Al-Musallam, WA Vice President and President of the European Aquatics Federation (European Aquatics) Antonio Silva, EA Vice Presidents Josip Varvodić and Erkan Yalçın, Vice President for Central Asia of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, as well as the President of the Belarusian Swimming Federation Olga Brusnikina.
The WA Congress is the supreme governing meeting of the International Swimming Federation. Representatives of member countries participate here and discuss the organization's future strategy and policy, management and structural reforms, international competitions and rules. The congress is usually held during the world championship or the Olympic Games.
A world aquatics championship is being held in Singapore in parallel with the conference. The Azerbaijani national swimming team is represented at this competition by Ramil Valizade and Suleyman Ismayilzade. They are accompanied by head coach Rashad Abdurrahmanov and coach Ruslan Hatamkhanov. The President met with the national team, had a detailed conversation and wished the athletes success.
It should be noted that the competition will last until August 3. In total, the championship is attended by about 2,500 athletes from more than 200 countries.
