Azerbaijan will be represented at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in figure skating by only one athlete – Vladimir Litvintsev.
İdman.biz reports that Azerbaijani figure skaters failed to win additional quotas during the ISU Skate to Milano, an Olympic qualifying tournament held in Beijing.
In the women's singles competition, Azerbaijani athlete Nargiz Suleymanova took 12th place with 142.55 points (short program – 13th, free program – 15th). It is worth noting that Suleymanova took first place in the execution of technical elements at a certain stage, but as a result of the re-evaluation of her performance, she lost 9 points, which did not allow her to take a higher position in the final ranking.
In the ice dancing competition, the Samantha Ritter/Daniil Brykalov duo took 17th place with 125.63 points (rhythm dance – 19th, free dance – 16th).
To qualify for the 2026 Olympics in women's singles and ice dancing, Azerbaijani athletes were required to be in the top five.
Azerbaijani athletes did not participate in the men's singles and pairs competitions in Beijing.
Thus, Vladimir Litvintsev will be Azerbaijan's only representative in figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics. He qualified for the Olympics as a result of the World Championships held in Boston, USA.
Azerbaijani alpine skiers also have a chance to qualify for the Olympics. They will test their strength in qualifying competitions until the end of the year.
