"I am proud to be on the top step of the podium."
Idman.biz reports that Kayle Armdorf, a representative of the Republic of South Africa (RSA), who won a gold medal in a single kayak at the "President's Cup-2025" international regatta, said this in an interview with AZERTAC.
The athlete stated that he had a lot of difficulties on the way to victory: "I had health problems many times during training. But I didn't stop fighting. I got back on my feet and managed to recover. I am proud to represent my country and family properly."
The member of the RSA team, who participated in the regatta for the first time, said that he was satisfied with his performance: "Finishing the competition with a gold medal, in which my country participated for the first time, means a lot to me. Because we don't encounter such situations often. From here, I want to tell all my compatriots who are involved in rowing not to stop training, to always believe in victory."
He highly appreciated the organization of the tournament: "Everything is very beautiful here. I wish I had the opportunity to stay in this country longer. I hope we will visit Azerbaijan again in the next competitions."
K. Armdorf emphasized that his next goal is to win a license for the Olympic Games.
It should be noted that more than 200 athletes from more than 20 countries are participating in the "President's Cup-2025" international regatta. The competition, which started today in Sugovushan, will continue on May 1-2 at the Mingachevir "Kur" Olympic Training and Sports Center.
