The "World Athletics" Congress and Convention kicked off on September 11 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
Idman.biz reports that the President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation Javid Gurbanov, General Secretary Maharram Sultanzade and specialist Brandon Isakov are participating in the 2-day event.
The congress presented the organization's annual report, discussed changes to the statute, as well as reports from continental associations.
Also, the development plan for athletics for 2022-2030 was reviewed.
The convention will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in sports, especially talent identification and training, the presentation of the new "World Athletics Ultimate" Championship (WAUC) tournament, innovations in digital sports and virtual participation, in addition to the social impact of athletics and the expansion of cooperation opportunities.
It should be noted that after the congress, the World Athletics Championships will be held from September 13 to 21.
