A new world record has been set at the London Marathon.
According to Lent.az, Kenyan representative Sebastian Sawe has won the London Marathon.
Sebastian Sawe needed 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds to cover the distance of 42 km and 195 meters. The previous world record was set in October 2023. At that time, his compatriot Kelvin Kiptum showed a result of 2 hours and 35 seconds at the Chicago Marathon. Sawe became the first athlete in world history to run a marathon in less than two hours.
Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha (1:59.41) took second place in the London Marathon, and Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda (2:00.28) took third place. The top three showed a faster result than the previous world record.
