Australian swimmer Cameron McEvoy has set a new world record in the 50-meter freestyle at the Open Championships in China.
Lent.az reports that the International Swimming Federation announced this.
It should be noted that the record set 16 years ago belonged to Brazilian Cesar Cielo and was 20.91 seconds. Cameron McEvoy covered the 50-meter distance in 20.88 seconds. The athlete also updated his personal record by 0.18 seconds.
Cameron McEvoy won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. He also has two world championship titles and three Olympic bronze medals won in 2016 and 2020.
