The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided to ban transgender individuals from competing in women's events.
Idman.Biz reports that the IOC press service announced this on the organization's official website.
"Only biological females, as determined by the SRY gene test, are now eligible to compete in women's events at the Olympic Games or other IOC events, including individual and team sports. Based on evidence and expert assessments, and effective from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, this policy is aimed at ensuring the fairness, safety and integrity of women's competitions.
The decision is irrevocable and does not apply to amateur or recreational sports programs, - the IOC press service said.
