American athlete Gretchen Walsh has set a new world record in the 100-meter butterfly. The two-time Olympic champion achieved this feat at a tournament held in Fort Lauderdale, USA.
İdman.Biz reports that she covered the distance in 54.33 seconds, updating her previous record (54.60) by 0.27 seconds. Claire Curzan took second place in the competition with a time of 58.44 seconds, and Audrey Derivaux took third place with 58.68 seconds.
Twenty-three-year-old Walsh has now broken the world record in this distance for the fourth time in her career.
