The first medals have been awarded at the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships in Prague.
Idman.Biz reports that the gold medals were won by representatives of Germany. In the pairs competition, Minerva Fabien Hase and Nikita Volodin won. The couples, who were the leaders after the short program, also showed the best result in the free program. Their total score was 228.33, which is a personal record for the Germans. Volodin and Hase became world champions for the first time.
The silver medal went to Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava (218.41 points). They brought the Georgian national team its first medal in the history of the World Figure Skating Championships.
The top three medalists were completed by Canadian representatives Lia Pereira and Trent Michaud (216.09 points). They updated their personal records and climbed the honorary podium of the World Championship for the first time.
Last year's tournament winners Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara did not come to Prague. After their victory at the 2026 Olympics, the Japanese representatives ended the season ahead of schedule.
