During the event, the flags of Germany and the International University Sports Federation (FISU) were raised.
FISU President Leonz Eder, accompanied by the mayors of Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr, symbolically cut the ribbon and officially declared Flags Square open.
Flags Square invites visitors on a small world tour and has already become a popular spot for photo shoots.
It should be noted that the opening ceremony of the Universiade will take place today with the participation of the Azerbaijani team.
