The official opening ceremony of the first stage of the Baku City Cup in archery was held in Baku.
Idman.Biz reports that the competition was organized jointly by the Azerbaijan Archery Federation and the Baku City Youth and Sports Department.
Speaking at the official part of the event, Kamal Ahmadov, the leading advisor of the sports sector of the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, as well as the executive director of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, emphasized the importance of the competition and wished the participants success.
Later, the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Archery Federation, Farid Khalilov, spoke about the work done by the federation to increase the physical and technical readiness of athletes. He said that such competitions play an important role in strengthening the competitive environment and revealing new talents.
Then the First stage of the Baku City Cup was declared open.
After the official part, the qualifying stage of the competition started. In total, 51 athletes are competing for the championship. Participants in the senior category aim at targets from a distance of 70 meters, while male and female athletes in the U-15 category perform from a distance of 40 meters.
It should be noted that the results obtained in today's qualifying stage will determine the rating of athletes to advance to the final stage and the opponents they will face. According to the program, the ranking shots of the competition will be organized tomorrow.
