The karate competitions within the framework of the III CIS Games have ended at the "Kur" Olympic Training and Sports Center located in Mingachevir.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told Lent.az that 96 athletes from 8 countries participating in the competition on October 3-4 fought hard and tested their strength. Rovshan Aliyev, an employee of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, chief sergeant of internal service, and Nuran Rzazade, a soldier of military unit N of the Civil Defense Forces, who are members of the Azerbaijan national karate team consisting of 24 athletes who successfully performed in the competition, managed to achieve high results in kata and kumite competitions.
Nuran Rzazade, who won a ticket to the final by holding 5 fights in the -67 kg weight category in the kumite competitions among men, won the final match with a score of 7:3 against the representative of Kyrgyzstan and won the gold medal of the III CIS Games.
In addition, Rovshan Aliyev, another member of the team, managed to win a bronze medal in the individual kata competitions among men.
Murad Hajizade, a national judge of Azerbaijan and an employee of the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, lieutenant of internal service, also participated in the karate competitions at the III CIS Games.
It should be noted that the main coach of the Ministry of Emergency Situations karate team is the two-time world champion, 8th dan black belt holder, head of the Ministry's Sports and Health Club, Colonel Fuzuli Musayev.
