Azerbaijani athletes are starting their performances at the Universiade held in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany.
Idman.biz reports that competitions in rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and swimming start today.
In rhythmic gymnastics, Ilona Zeynalova and Kamilla Seyidzade will compete in the individual all-around, while our team consisting of Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Agalarzade, Darya Sorokina, Kamilla Aliyeva, and Yelizaveta Luzan will demonstrate their skills in the all-around competition among groups.
Competitions will be held in badminton among mixed teams. In the group stage, the Azerbaijani team will face Thailand and Australia. Hajar Nuriyeva, Agil Gabilov, Nigar Samadova, and Murad Shabanzade are in our team.
In fencing, our athletes will participate in group stage matches. Among women, Aynur Guliyeva, Nazila Rahimova, and Khadija Hasanli will compete in the epee event, while among men, Magsud Huseynli, Saleh Mammadov, and Murad Akbarov will compete in the sabre event.
In table tennis competitions, our women's team consisting of Khadija Abilzade, Nigar Mahmudova, Sabina Mammadova, and Zemfira Mikayilova will face South Korea in the first match of the group stage. Our men's team (Amin Oruczade, Nihad Samadzade, Tural Mirzayev) will face the US team.
In tennis competitions, Elvin Hashimov will face Nakalanga Hamayangwe from Zambia.
In the swimming program, Fatime Alkaramova, Abdurrahman Rustamov, and Ramil Valizade will compete in the 50-meter butterfly event. Said Hamidov will swim 100 meters backstroke. Also, a 4x100 meter freestyle relay race will be held among men.
