The World Judo Championship started today in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Idman.biz reports that three Azerbaijani judokas competed on the first day of the World Cup. All of them finished their performances without medals.

Men
60 kg
Ahmad Yusifov wrestled with Japanese Ryuju Nagayama in the 1/16 finals. Our judoka suffered a defeat at the start.
Women
48 kg
Leyla Aliyeva (48 kg) started the fight from the 1/32 finals. She faced Kurbanay Kurbanova (Turkmenistan) and won. Our judoka tested her strength with Laura Martinez (Spain) in the second match. The opponent passed the stage.
Konul Aliyeva lost to Maria Laborde (USA) in the 1/32 finals.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team went to the World Championship with 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) in 10 weight categories. Our team will also compete in the mixed team competition.
