A weightlifting competition dedicated to the memory of martyr Umid Gasimzade was held in Jalilabad district.
According to the Mughan bureau of "Report", the district tournament held in the sports hall of secondary school No. 2 named after Vasif Huseynov in Goytepe city of Jalilabad district was organized jointly by Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sports Department and Umid Gasimzade Weightlifting Sports Club.
According to the results of the competition, the winners were awarded diplomas and medals.
After the event, Umid Gasimzade's grave was visited.
It should be noted that Umid Gasimzade, a martyr of the Patriotic War, was born in 2001 in Goytepe city of Jalilabad district. From a young age, he was involved in weightlifting. U.Gasimzade won silver medals at the Azerbaijan championships among young people in 2019 and 2020.
During the Patriotic War, he fought for the liberation of Fuzuli. He was martyred on October 13 during the battles for Fuzuli. He was buried in Jalilabad district.
After his death, he was awarded the medals "For the Motherland", "For Distinction in Battle" and "For the Liberation of Fuzuli".
