Russian figure skater Veronika Zhilina's transfer to the Azerbaijani national team has failed. Sport24.az reports that the decision was made by the Council of the International Skating Union (ISU).
On May 13, the president of the Russian Figure Skating Federation, Anton Sikharulidze, reported that the organization's executive committee did not agree to the athlete's transfer to the Azerbaijani team.
It should be noted that Veronika Zhilina is 17 years old. Evgeni Plushenko's trainee missed last season due to injury. She is the silver medalist of the 2023 Russian Junior Championships and the winner of the 2023 Junior Grand Prix.
Zhilina announced on her social media account on May 14 that she had received an Azerbaijani passport.(teleqraf.az)
