"The open regional championship of Azerbaijan in rhythmic gymnastics is the first competition of this format held in the country."
These words were said to Idman.Biz by Sara Shukurova, a representative of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.
"The aim of the championship is to involve clubs from different regions of the country in such competitions. This gives young gymnasts the opportunity to show themselves and gain experience, increases their motivation and forms a competitive spirit. Such tournaments contribute to the development of gymnastics in the regions," she noted.
According to her, this championship differs from other regional competitions in that even the youngest gymnasts can gain experience here. In total, athletes in three age groups - children, teenagers and young people - will perform in the tournament. They will present their programs in various categories: without apparatus, ball, hoop, ribbon and clubs.
Shukurova also said that the largest part of the participants came from Khirdalan, Shamakhi and Sumgayit.
"The Federation pays special attention to the development of gymnastics in the regions. New sections are opened every year. Recently, new sections in rhythmic gymnastics and "Gymnastics for All" have been opened in Goygol. A new trampoline gymnastics section has been opened in Shaki," she concluded.
