President of the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation: Azerbaijan has a strong team, a good federation, and serious investments

These words were said to Idman.Biz by the President of the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation, Luís Arrais.

Today, April 8, the European Championship in trampoline gymnastics, double mini-trampoline, and tumbling starts in Portimão, Portugal. 23 Azerbaijani athletes will also participate in the competition.

Arrais stated that he expects brilliant performances from all participants of the championship, including the Portuguese national team. The President also noted that gymnastics is developing rapidly in the country, and the organization of numerous competitions in various disciplines contributes to this.

"One of our main goals is to popularize gymnastics in the country, including through the media. We love organizing competitions and we see some results. Gymnastics in Portugal develops every year. We currently have the best national level performance in our history. Our athletes are rapidly progressing in all nine disciplines".

He also emphasized the high level of Azerbaijani athletes:

"Azerbaijan is represented by a strong team. You have excellent athletes, a good federation, serious investments, and a very respected Minister of Sports, Farid Gayibov. He is a professional and a wonderful person. You are also developing well in European gymnastics".

Luís Arrais added that he loves coming to Baku:

"The National Gymnastics Arena of Azerbaijan is magnificent. We are negotiating with the Azerbaijani side to hold training camps in Baku next month with athletes in rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics".
