Today, Nizami Pashayev, one of Azerbaijan's most titled weightlifters, is celebrating his 45th birthday. The two-time world champion is currently not in the national team.
Idman.Biz contacted Nizami Pashayev, who turned 45, and inquired about the legendary athlete's day.
At the beginning of the conversation, Nizami Pashayev stated that he is currently training, but this is purely to combat excess weight.
"Because I have gained a little weight at the age of 45. If it wasn't for that, I would avoid the weightlifting hall from kilometers away. As far as I can see, my achievements as a coach are still not needed by anyone. Although many of the current coaches are my trainees. From Nijat Rahimov, who became a champion at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore under my leadership, to Dadash Dadashbayli, who is currently considered the number one in the national team. He trained with me until 2021. In the same year, he won a medal for the first time at the European Championships among adults held in Moscow. But it seems that our federation evaluates this differently and I was not found a place in the national team. Now, since there is no demand for me in my native sport, I am forced to do completely different work in order to support my family," said Nizami Pashayev.
