Weightlifter Nizami Pashayev's name is well known to sports fans - two-time world champion, European champion, winner of the Islamic Solidarity Games. After ending his career, he even served as the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team. However, after the London Olympic Games, Pashayev seemed to disappear completely from the world of weightlifting.
Recently, there have been persistent rumors that he has moved from Azerbaijan.
Idman.Biz contacted Nizami Pashayev and clarified that this information is not unfounded.
"Yes, I am currently in Russia, I live in Moscow and I don't know when I will return. Moreover, why should I return? Who is waiting for me? For ten years now, no one from the federation or anywhere else has been interested in me…", - Nizami Pashayev complained.
Nizami Pashayev continued his thought, saying that although the leadership in the federation has changed, there is no new success in general.
"Therefore, we have no topic to talk to you about. My only wish was to help the development of my favorite sport in Azerbaijan, but apparently no one needs it", - said the famous weightlifter and refused to continue the conversation.
