Azerbaijani figure skater Nargiz Suleymanova has finished the season with her participation in one of the main international competitions - the World Championship. Nargiz represented our country in the women's singles competition.
This was the second World Championship for the athlete. Unfortunately, she was unable to qualify for the final stage - the free program.
Idman.Biz Nargiz Suleymanova talked to her about it.
- How do you assess your performance at the World Championships?
- Overall, my performance was confident: there were good moments, but I also made a few mistakes. My emotions are mixed - I'm glad that I was able to perform at a high level even after the mistake at the beginning, but of course, it's disappointing not to be able to show my full potential. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every second I spent on the ice and I think it was felt throughout the program. And of course, representing Azerbaijan is a great honor and pride for me.
- Speaking of mistakes, you changed the combination you planned after that...
- Yes, during the performance, you need to quickly adapt to the situation and make decisions on the spot so that the structure of the program is preserved and executed as cleanly as possible.

- Other Azerbaijani athletes also performed at the World Championships - Vladimir Litvintsev and the dance duet Samantra Ritter/Daniel Brikalov. Are you familiar with them and do you support each other?
- Yes, we are familiar. We can't meet often due to different schedules, but overall we keep in touch and there is a very good atmosphere in the team. It's nice to have people supporting you nearby.
- There is also a promising young athlete, Arina Kaluqina, in the Azerbaijani national team. Are you following her results?
- I try to follow the performances of young athletes. She has potential and if she works on it, she can improve her results significantly.

- Are you already thinking about new programs for the next season?
- We are discussing new programs. I plan to increase technical difficulty and work on stability. The main goal is development and more confident performances.
- Are there any plans to visit Azerbaijan?
- I will try to come to Baku in the near future, maybe as early as next month. My grandmother and many of my relatives live there, so this city has a special place in my life. I love Baku very much - it gives me strength and inspiration.
