Winning the Baku International Winter Tournament was of particular importance for Azerbaijani athlete Lamia Veliyeva.
The 23-year-old athlete stated that her impressions of the competition were extremely positive.
"It was especially important for me to show my personal results and see the fruits of my preparation. I would like to thank my personal coach Olesya Abbasova, who has contributed greatly to this success," she said in a statement to "Report".
L. Veliyeva recalled that her husband, Tembo John, also won the competition:
"Not only me, but also my husband, Tembo John, won the 60-meter race at the tournament. From this point of view, we value the success as a result we achieved together. We also expect him to officially join our team."
The athlete also spoke about her upcoming goals:
"I have the Balkan Championship coming up very soon. But I am aiming further. I am currently seriously preparing for a competition of great importance, the name of which I do not want to reveal yet."
