Irina Zaretska and Asiman Gurbanli have reached the quarter-finals of the World Karate Championship held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
According to Idman.Biz, both athletes confidently passed the group stage and qualified for the 1/8 finals, entering the top eight in their categories.
On the second day of the competition, Azerbaijan was also represented by Roman Heydarov (kata) and Turgut Hasanov (84 kg). Heydarov advanced from the group stage, but lost to his opponent in the 1/8 finals. Hasanov failed to pass the group stage.
