The reason for Azerbaijani weightlifter Dadaş Dadaşbayli's non-participation in the European Championship to be held in Batumi, Georgia, has been determined.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to AZERTAC that the athlete, who competes in the 110 kg weight category, said that the pain from the injury he received last year has resurfaced.
"The injury I sustained to my knee during the 2025 World Championships has not fully healed yet. Nevertheless, I participated in the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh last year and achieved successful results. After that, my pain started to increase. It was a difficult period for me. I am currently undergoing a recovery process. After I fully recover, I will participate in competitions again," he said in his statement.
It should be noted that the preliminary squad of the Azerbaijani national team for the European Championship, which will be held from April 19 to 26, has been announced. The list on the official website of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) includes the names of Tehran Mammadov (65 kg), Isa Rustamov (71 kg), Ravin Almamadov (79 kg) and Ali Shukurlu (110 kg).
