The Great Britain Figure Skating Federation will officially appeal the results of the ice dance competition at the 2026 World Championships in Prague.
Idman.Biz reports that the British are dissatisfied with the recalculation of scores. It was after this technical intervention that the pair Layla Fear and Lewis Gibson fell to fourth place, losing to the US representatives, who won the bronze medal, by only 0.22 points.
The winners of the tournament were the French couple Guillaume Cizeron and Lawrence Fournier with 230.81 points. The British side, in its statement, stated that the procedure for deleting points was not applied correctly and that it did not reflect the real performance level of the athletes. The federation claims that the principles of fairness, transparency and consistency in judging have been violated.
The official complaint has already been prepared and the British side will appeal to the International Skating Union (ISU), demanding a full and independent review of the judging process. The federation also expressed its full support for the Fear and Gibson pair, highly appreciating their contribution to the sport.
