The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has announced that its name has been changed.
Idman.Biz reports that the organization will now be called World Gymnastics.
This was reported on the organization's website.
"World Gymnastics" clearly and purposefully represents our mission. The name emphasizes our role as a global center for athletes, coaches, fans and partners. This change is more than just a rebranding. It is a promise to elevate the sport and expand access to gymnastics worldwide.
"World Gymnastics" is only the beginning of a larger transformation. Our new sport-specific brands offer our entire community, including athletes, fans, coaches, judges and partners, a more powerful platform for expression, growth and connection," said organization president Morinari Watanabe.
