The Azerbaijani national athletics team will participate in the European Championship for Small Countries to be held in Monaco.
Idman.Biz reports that the members of the national team, who will represent our country in the competition to be held on May 30, 2026, have left for Monaco.
The championship will be held at the "Stade Louis II". The tournament will be organized by the Monaco Athletics Federation and with the support of European Athletics.
Athletes from 17 countries, along with Monaco, will test their strength in the competition. Participants include Azerbaijan, Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Georgia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and San Marino.
At the European Championship for Small Countries, athletes will compete in running, jumping, throwing and relay events. The competition program includes events such as 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters, hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin throw and Swedish relay.
This tournament is also important in terms of preparation for the European Small States Games to be held in Monaco in 2027.
