The calendar of international gymnastics competitions to be held in Azerbaijan has been determined.
According to Idman.Biz, the National Gymnastics Arena will host four World Cups, as well as one European Cup. But everything in order.
Considering the chronological order, the season will be opened first by masters in trampoline gymnastics and tumbling. They will perform on February 21–22. Athletes from ten countries have already registered for the competition. The largest team in terms of numbers will belong to the USA - the Americans will bring 16 athletes to Baku.
The World Cup in sports gymnastics will be held in the capital on March 5–8, and the World Cup in rhythmic gymnastics will be held on April 17–19.
In addition, acrobats will also come to Baku. They will compete in the World Cup stage on June 5–7.
At the same time, as in previous years, competitions under the auspices of European Gymnastics will also be held in our country. We are talking about the European Cup in rhythmic gymnastics. This tournament is being held in Baku for the third year in a row. This time, the dates of the competition will cover the period from April 30 to May 3.
Meanwhile, this year, the first Olympic licenses for gymnastics disciplines outside Azerbaijan will also be fought for. For example, the motto of the world championship in sports gymnastics to be held in Rotterdam is "Building Bridges". This slogan refers not only to the famous Erasmus Bridge, the silver symbol of Rotterdam, which connects the north and south of the city, but also to the Olympic future: only two years remain before the Los Angeles Olympic Games. New world champions will be determined in team competitions in Rotterdam - this will happen for the first time since 2023. The top three teams among men and women will automatically receive licenses for the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will also be held in Germany from August 12–16. This will be the first such tournament since 2015. The main hope of the hosts is the current Olympic champion and two-time world champion Daria Varfolomeev.
"This is an incredibly important event for me," admitted the gymnast who won the world champion title for the second time in a row in Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
Among the main contenders for the gold medal are Bulgarian star Stiliyana Nikolova, Italian Sofia Raffaeli, as well as European champion Taisiya Onofriychuk (Ukraine).
In team competitions in group exercises, Japan will try to defend its world champion title won last year in the fight against Brazil and Spain. The national teams of Bulgaria and Italy are also among the favorites. The teams that take the first three places in individual and group all-around will receive Olympic licenses.
In trampoline gymnastics, China will host the world championship for the first time. The tournament will be held in Nanjing from November 4–8. This city is already connected to the history of gymnastics: the 2008 Olympic champion Lu Chunlong studied here.
In total, five world championships and more than thirty World Cup competitions in various types of gymnastics will be held this year.
