Athletics Federation held a reporting conference, the best were awarded

Today, the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation held a reporting conference dedicated to the results of 2025.

Idman.Biz reports that the event began with the sounding of the national anthem. Cavid Gurbanov, President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, who opened the conference with an introductory speech, informed about the issues on the agenda.

Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports, noted in his speech that serious work had been done by the federation during the past year and expressed hope that the activities carried out in this direction would pay off in prestigious competitions in the coming years, and wished success to the work of the conference.

Then, Secretary General Maharram Sultanzade made a comprehensive report on the activities of the federation during the year. This was followed by reports from Shirin Veliyev, chairman of the panel of judges, as well as chief accountant Gulnara Shiryayeva, which were heard and adopted.

Then the best of the past year were awarded. Alham Nagiyev was chosen as the male athlete of the year, Yekaterina Sariyeva as the female athlete of the year, Ilaha Guliyeva as the young athlete of the year, Vidadi Alisgandarov as the coach of the year, and Namig Asadov as the referee of the year. The European Athletics Coaching Award was presented to Oktay Shakhtakhtinsky. Elshan Guliyev, Director of the Zafar Running Club, was awarded a letter of appreciation.

The Federation leadership wished success in the future activities of Tofig Aliyev, an experienced specialist, "Honored Coach", "Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports", who was newly appointed as the head coach of the national athletics team.
