"Even though I didn't perform today, I was very worried about the kids and was cheering for them."
This was stated to Idman.Biz by Aleksey Karatashov, a member of the Azerbaijani national tumbling team. He shared his impressions after the Azerbaijani team won a silver medal at the European Championships in trampoline gymnastics, double mini-trampoline and tumbling.
"I became calmer after each performance of the children. Adil jumped last, and when I saw him land confidently, I was extremely happy," he said.
Aleksey Karatashov noted that although the team hoped for a gold medal, they are satisfied with the result:
"Of course, we wanted to take first place. We had prepared seriously for these competitions. But in any case, this medal is a great success."
For the athlete, this was the first competition in the senior category, and he has already won a silver medal at the European Championship:
"I am very happy to have won a medal in the senior competition where I debuted. It was not easy to perform among adults. I was very nervous in the individual competitions. My teammates and especially our coach were very supportive."
Karatashov added that he gained valuable experience, and other tumblers of the national team are an example for him and help him develop.
In the end, he emphasized that he will be cheering for Mikhail Malkin and Tofig Aliyev, who will perform in the individual finals tomorrow.
