McLaren's approach to the new season has already sparked discussions.
Idman.Biz reports that the team sees the 2026 technical regulations as a complete reset and prefers to better understand the car instead of hastily implementing major updates.
Team principal Andrea Stella said that skipping the first two days of testing in Barcelona was pre-planned. The goal was not to rush incomplete details onto the track, but to gain more time for development at the base.
Technical director Rob Marshall also stated that no major updates are expected in the period between testing and the first race. According to him, understanding a car with a completely new concept is more important than aggressive modernization.
Mastering a new power unit, chassis, and aerodynamics simultaneously poses a serious challenge for the teams.
It is noted that some teams have chosen a different path. For example, Ferrari is preparing to present significant innovations during the testing phase.
Thus, the main question remains open: will a cautious strategy help McLaren protect the title, or will the team fall behind against the backdrop of radical changes?
