The leadership of the Formula 1 World Championship has decided to cancel the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix stages due to the situation in the Middle East.
Report reports that the Formula 1 Press Service has released information about this.
It is noted that the organizers considered various alternative options for organizing the races, but as a result, they decided to refuse to change the stages.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali noted that this was a difficult but necessary decision, taking into account the current situation in the region.
In turn, the President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed bin Sulayem, stressed that Bahrain and Saudi Arabia play an important role in the championship calendar and expressed hope that the races will return to these countries when conditions allow.
The Bahrain Grand Prix was to be held on April 10-12, and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on April 17-19. After the Japanese Grand Prix (March 27-29), there will be a four-week break in the championship, and the next stage will be held in Miami (USA) on May 1-3.
