The cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix events could affect Formula 1's technical regulations.
According to Idman.Biz, the International Automobile Federation is considering postponing the deadlines for engine development within the ADUO system.
The regulations initially stipulated four evaluation periods during the season, but due to calendar changes, the sixth race will now only take place in Monaco in early June. This delays the timing of the power unit performance analysis and may negatively affect teams lagging behind the leaders.
The FIA is expected to propose changing the deadlines to allow manufacturers lagging behind to introduce improvements earlier. According to reports, only "Mercedes" opposes this move.
Under the current regulations, teams lagging more than 2% behind the leaders receive additional opportunities for engine development, including extended testing limits and budget easing.
