Javier Zanetti, former captain and current vice-president of Inter, commented on the young star Franco Mastantuono being left out of the Argentina national team for the World Cup. Sport24.az reports that the legendary footballer spoke about this in an interview with the famous Spanish publication Marca.
Zanetti emphasized that the "tango dancers" have a fairly large and high-quality squad:
"There are many strong players in the Argentina national team. Even among the players who are not in the squad, you can see high-level figures. Mastantuono is one of them. His young age is currently his biggest advantage. He has many years ahead of him and I am sure that he will have the opportunity to play in the next world championships."
Evaluating the chances of the world giants, the former defender noted that Argentina will again be one of the main favorites:
"The World Championship will be very balanced. There are strong teams such as France, Argentina, Spain, Portugal and Germany. Argentina will go to the tournament to defend their title and become champions again."
Finally, Zanetti, showing support for the national team's head coach Lionel Scaloni, added that he makes the right decisions in team selection and that Argentina's future is in safe hands.
