Yuri Vernidub has been appointed as the head coach of "Neftchi". Sport24.az reports that a 1.5-year contract has been signed with the Ukrainian specialist. This was reported by the club's press service.
Vernidub, who started his coaching career as an assistant coach in 2001 and has been the head coach since 2011, has worked in "Metallurg" (Zaporozhye), "Zorya", "Kryvbas" in his homeland, "Shakhtyor" (Soligorsk) in Belarus, and "Sheriff" in Moldova.
The experienced coach has won bronze medals of the Ukrainian Championship with "Zorya" and "Kryvbas" in different years, and has been the champion of Moldova twice with "Sheriff". The specialist who led "Sheriff" to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, "Zorya" to the group stage of the Europa League, and "Kryvbas" to the European Cups after 24 years, was chosen as the coach of the year in Ukraine in 2016 and 2018, and in Moldova in 2021.
It should be noted that Vernidub's assistants in the coaching staff are Valeri Mikhailenko, Dmitro Kara-Mustafa, Vitali Vernidub and Igor Fokin.
