Former Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder revealed his expectations for the team's performance at the 2026 World Cup. Sport24.az reports that the veteran footballer also shared his thoughts on national team captain Virgil van Dijk:
"I still think Virgil van Dijk is indispensable to our defense. But now he has more problems than he did three or four years ago. This is especially noticeable when playing against strong forwards. I'm sure Virgil knows it himself when he plays poorly. I still consider him our worthy captain. But I hope he will also prove himself to be a man of character. Moreover, as a leader on the field, he will be able to organize our team well."
