The US government has agreed to an expedited visa application process for fans wishing to watch their national teams play in the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that this was written by The Sun newspaper.
At a White House press conference, President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed an agreement with FIFA to provide expedited processing for fans holding tickets.
Zurich officials have welcomed the priority appointment system, currently known as the "FIFA Pass", although it only provides expedited interviews and does not guarantee visa approval.
"The United States offers priority appointments for FIFA World Cup fans to go through visa interviews and be able to prove their eligibility. A ticket is not a visa and does not guarantee entry into the United States. This ensures that you get an expedited appointment. You will still go through the same vetting process as everyone else. The only difference is that we put you ahead in line," Rubio told The Sun.
The FIFA World Cup will be held next summer in three countries - the USA, Canada and Mexico. Argentina is the current world champion.
