The United States Soccer Federation (USSAF) has expressed support for the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), which has opposed FIFA's plan to sell its stake in the World Cup to private investors.
"The USSAF supports CONCACAF and its members," the statement reads.
Earlier media reports had identified the lead investor as a fund founded by Joshua Kushner, the younger brother of Jared Kushner, the husband of Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka.
On July 30, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced that its countries would boycott FIFA tournaments if the organization transfers ownership of the World Cup and other competitions to private investors.
