Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has made ambitious statements after the successes he has achieved with his team. Sport24.az reports that the 53-year-old Spanish specialist spoke about the main goals he set when he came to the Birmingham club:
"When I started working at Villa, my dream was to play in Europe and fight for trophies. This became our first title. We played two semi-finals and came very close to success."
Emery emphasized that these experiences play an important role in the development of the team:
"These experiences are very important to become even stronger. The club has been away from European cups and titles for a long time. Achieving this makes us very happy. But we don't intend to stop."
The experienced coach also touched upon the place of European Cups in his career and the team's approach to the tournament:
"Europe has given me a lot and I am always grateful for it. Conference League, Champions League, Europa League - it doesn't matter, I have great respect especially for the Europa League. This season we performed very seriously and with full focus. The players showed how willing they were on the field. I told them that you should show desire in this tournament and show that you are the main role holder. They did it."
In the end, the head coach expressed his satisfaction with the balance in the team, recalling that there are both titled players and players experiencing their first cup joy in the team.
