UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has opposed the idea of holding the Club World Cup every two years.
İdman.biz reports that "The Athletic" has released information about this.
In August, reports emerged that FIFA might support Real Madrid's idea of increasing the number of participants in the World Cup and holding the tournament every two years.
Ceferin is not against holding the World Cup every four years.
"If they organize the Club World Cup every four years, it is quite normal for our organization and for me personally. But I would not agree with the idea of holding the World Cup every two years. I don't think they really want that either.
The most problematic thing about this is that footballers "die" after the season, and then they have to play in this five-week tournament, which is too much," said Čeferin.
According to the UEFA president, FIFA should talk to the clubs that support this idea: "It's exhausting because there are various tournaments, the Club World Cup, then the World Cup the following year, a year off, then the European and American Cups and others. Now that the Africa Cup of Nations is in January, it's a never-ending story. So it's difficult, but we'll see what happens in the future."
