Every year, before the new season, various sources amaze us with the prize money figures for clubs in the Premier League and other leagues.
According to a report by Lent.az, citing foreign media, this time they compared the English league with the Spanish La Liga.
The Premier League's massive TV deal and sponsorship revenues allow teams to share a huge chunk of £3.148 billion. Last season's champion "Arsenal" earned £198.7 million, while second and third-place "Manchester City" and "Manchester United" earned slightly less - £192.5 million and £191.5 million, respectively.
The total prize money in La Liga is slightly more than half of the Premier League's - £1.435 billion compared to £3.148 billion. Champion "Barcelona" will earn €160.3 million, which is the same level as the 10th-placed English club "Brentford". "Real" and "Atletico" will earn less - €153.6 million and €127 million, respectively.
For a more interesting comparison, the Premier League's absolute outsider "Wolverhampton" will earn more (€117.7 million) than "Athletic", which qualified for the Champions League (€96.3 million).
And the difference between the two strongest leagues in the world will only continue to grow.
