The Swiss national football team has announced its final squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that head coach Murat Yakin has determined the 26 players he will take to the World Cup. The prevalence of experienced players in the squad is noteworthy. The list includes 17 players who participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
For Granit Xhaka and Ricardo Rodriguez, key leaders of the team, this will be their fourth consecutive World Cup. Xhaka is the most capped player in the Swiss national team.
Murat Yakin stated that he was satisfied with his selection. He said he included the best players in the squad and is eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament. Zeki Amdouni's return to the squad after a long-term injury was also noted.
As part of their preparations for the World Cup, the Swiss national team will play test matches against Jordan on May 31 and Australia on June 6. The team will play its first match at the World Cup against Qatar on June 13. Switzerland will then face Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Canada, one of the hosts of the tournament.
