The Swiss national football team defeated the Jordanian team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that the friendly match held at the "Kibunpark" stadium in St. Gallen ended with a 4:1 victory for the home team.
Bril Embolo opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 28th minute. Dan Ndoy increased the difference in the 33rd minute. At the end of the first half, Granit Xhaka accurately converted another penalty, giving Switzerland a 3:0 lead into the break.
Jordan managed to reduce the deficit in the second half. Odeh Al-Fakhoury scored the visitors' only goal in the 52nd minute. However, in the 79th minute, Christian Fassnacht determined the final score - 4:1.
Both teams will participate in the final stage of the 2026 World Cup. Switzerland will face Canada, Qatar, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B. Jordan will compete against Argentina, Algeria, and Austria in Group J.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. For the first time, 48 teams will participate in the tournament.
