Spain's national football team defeated Peru in their last friendly match before the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that the match, held at the "Cuauhtémoc" stadium in Puebla, Mexico, ended with a 3:1 win for Spain.
Spain started the match quickly, with Mikel Oyarzabal opening the scoring in the second minute. Pedri doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
After the break, Peru's goalkeeper Pedro Gallese scored an own goal, further increasing Spain's advantage. Although Peru reduced the deficit with a goal from Hayro Velas in the 66th minute, they could not catch up.
The Peru national team will not participate in the 2026 World Cup, finishing ninth in the South American qualifying stage and missing out on the tournament.
Meanwhile, Spain will compete in Group H of the 2026 World Cup against the national teams of Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
